This picture illustrates Chapter 7 of Ruby and the Ancient Teacher. Jenny has come to visit the English teacher, Darren Lane, but he is not in his room. There is a rumour going around the Academy of Magic that she is Darren's girlfriend. She is not pleased when she reads the current page of his journal. Jenny is unaware that Ruby is also in the room, as the latter is wearing the magic ring which Fabia gave her and which makes the wearer invisible! Jenny is training to be a magician's assistant which is why she is dressed in such a bright costume. Ruby is wearing a regulation Victorian style school dress. Darren's polished shoes are in front of the fireplace.
For this illustration I used a stylus and some Apple apps, instead of Paint, the Windows program, and a mouse as in my other illustrations on this blog. However, I used Paint to write the text and also to finish off the painting.
It is amazing how computers can help you to be creative!
